English Captions for a Custom Birthday Video: Spelling, Timing and Readability

English captions help viewers follow names and wishes when a birthday video plays in a busy room or without sound. Confirm captions as part of the brief, including the exact text, spelling and whether they will be embedded in the finished video.

Decide what the captions need to show

You may want the complete spoken message, only the recipient’s name, or a final note from the sender. Explain the goal rather than assuming the provider will choose. Ask whether captions are included and whether a separate subtitle file is available; the supported format depends on the agreed service.

Use a single approved text version

Send the final script with punctuation, capitalization and name spelling. If the spoken wording differs from the caption text, mark the difference clearly. For a translated greeting, have someone who understands the intended meaning review it. Avoid promising word-perfect translation before the wording has been checked.

Keep the message readable on small screens

Short phrases, clear contrast and enough display time generally work better than dense blocks. Ask to keep important words away from edges that could be cropped by the intended platform. Test on the device or screen where the recipient will watch, rather than relying only on a desktop preview.

Review captions along with sound

Play the complete file and compare captions with the approved wording. Check name spelling, timing and whether background imagery makes words hard to read. Report issues with the relevant timestamp and correct text. Confirm the revision policy before ordering, especially if you may request new wording after the original script is approved.

Discuss your personalized greeting video
