How to Explain Name Pronunciation for an African Birthday Video

Help your greeting team pronounce personal names correctly with a simple written guide and an optional voice reference.

Why pronunciation deserves its own check

The recipient’s name is one of the most personal details in a birthday greeting video. A name that looks familiar may have several pronunciations, especially when the customer and performers use different languages. Provide the spelling you want on screen and a separate pronunciation note. Do not assume that a nickname or a regional pronunciation will be obvious from the written name.

Create an easy reference

Break the name into short syllables and indicate which part is stressed. If possible, offer a brief voice recording that contains only the relevant name and greeting. Ask whether the filming team can review that reference before you pay. Avoid sending unrelated private conversations. If the name contains unfamiliar sounds, discuss a workable pronunciation rather than expecting a perfect imitation without checking feasibility.

Keep spelling and speech consistent

Review the name wherever it appears: the sign, spoken message, subtitles and any introduction. For a couple or family, label each person clearly so names are not mixed up. If the greeting uses a title such as Dad or Grandma, state whether that should replace the personal name or be used alongside it. Keep one final written version instead of sending several contradictory edits.

Agree on corrections before filming

Ask what happens if a name is recorded differently from the approved reference. Distinguish a production error from a change requested after the brief has been confirmed. Revision and reshoot terms should be agreed for the specific order. Blessings Video can review your pronunciation notes when you enquire about a personalized African birthday video.
